Book Review: How to Deliver a TED Talk

I was recently looking for some shorter length books to read on my Kindle and while browsing options on Amazon, I stumbled across a series of TED e-books. It may be more accurate to describe them as white papers or articles instead of books, since they are all roughly 50-100 pages in length. Since I am a fan of TED and am interested in improving my own presentation skills, I thought I’d start by reading the book ‘How to Deliver a TED Talk’ by Jeremey Donovan.

Azure VM Faulted State

Sometimes your Azure VM will get into a Faulted State. At this point, restart requests from the Management Portal, or Powershell will fail. In the past I’ve deleted the VM (remember deleting a VM does NOT delete the underlying OS and data disks), and then recreated it, attaching the disks.
Azure Virtual Machine TempDb Placement

The recommended location for the tempDb on an Azure virtual machine, is the non-persisted D: drive. This drive is actually a hard drive connected to the underlying physical hardware, so it should offer better performance then the persisted data and OS disks. The persisted disks are located on Azure Blob Storage, and accessed via a local area network in the Azure data center.
